일반적인 표면단차 분석기는 시편의 표면을 분석하는데 사용되는 장비이다. 예를 들어, 시편 표면의 높낮이 및 조도 등을 macro 수준에서부터 mm 수준의 거시적 크기로 측정하여 표면 형상의 모양 및 크기 등의 거시적 정량 분석이 가능하다. 그러나 본 장비는 단순히 표면 형상만 측정가능한 장비가 아니며, 표면 형상 측정 이외에 측정 신호 모티너링 기능과 stylus를 통한 전압 인가 기능을 결합할 수 있게 개조한 장비로써, 시편의 전기적 물성 등의 다양한 표면 물성 정보를 얻는 것이 가능하게 된다.
